What is E2M?

Forty seconds on why E2M exists, who teaches, and how to start.

Go beneath the surface.

Every E2M term pairs sound theology with practical ministry. Here is what it feels like to slow down with one passage.

Ephesians 4:11-12

11He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; 12for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ.

Read it slowlyWorld English Bible. Notice what is given, and what it is given for.
The giverThe risen Christ gives these gifts to his church (Ephesians 4:7-10). Leaders are a gift, not the goal.
Katartismosκαταρτισμός
To make fit, set in order, fully equip. The same family of words describes fishermen mending their nets (Matthew 4:21).
Every believer servesLeaders equip, so the whole church can do the work of ministry and grow up together.
1

Read it slowly

Start with the text itself. Who is acting, what is given, and why? Good study begins by listening before explaining.

2

See the setting

Paul writes to believers in Ephesus about the gifts Christ gives his church. Context keeps us from making a verse say what we want it to say.

3

Dig into a word

The word behind "perfecting" carries the idea of repairing and making ready for use. Equipping is restoring people so they can serve.

4

Live it out

Theology that stays in a notebook is unfinished. E2M training is built to be worked out in your local church, while you serve.

Eight terms. One journey.

A two-year diploma of 112 lectures: systematic theology, biblical studies, practical ministry, leadership and missions. Plan on 15 to 20 hours a month.
